Celebrate Summer with Modernized Bellinis!

Traditionally speaking, a bellini is a sparkling wine cocktail that originated in Venice, Italy as a mixture between a dry Prosecco and peach puree.

However, I've found that during those hot summer months, the best way to enjoy Prosecco is with a scoop or  2 of sorbet!  You can add any flavor of sorbet of your preference, with the assumption that "peach sorbet" is probably the closest to a traditional bellini.  I enjoy my bellinis with 2 scoops of pink grapefruit sorbet.  (However, I'm a huge pink grapefruit fan... especially when mixing with sparkling wine.)

I really enjoyed our bellinis for the 4th of July holiday.  They went well with the outdoor mugginess, nightly fireflies, minor league baseball game, and our specialty steak salad.  Remember, the point of enjoying wine is also making memories.  Cheers to you on these hot summer days!

  1. We are driving home via Georgia and stopped at a road side stand for peaches. Delicious white peaches made me thirsty for bellinis. In Venice they are made with white peach nectar. I tend to experiment like you, but the I'll enjoy the real deal with my white Georgia peaches:)
